Colin Mason - Weather for boating
Colin Mason is a qualified International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) weather forecaster and will firstly cover a quick reprise of how our weather is generated, how it develops and will then discuss various weather models – with both their shortcomings and their strengths.
Colin spent some 23 years in the Royal Navy as a weather forecaster and oceanographer, having gained his PGDip MetOc in 1992. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineers, Scientists and Technologists as well as a Chartered Marine Technologist. He was, for a while, a member of two government committees (for Climate Change and The Arctic) whilst working as a consultant. This promises to be an informative talk.
